Practice 2 – Solve a few more inequalities (slightly difficult)

Questions :

Solve for x :

142 + x < 312

Solve for x :

-43 + x < -61

Solve for x :

-37 < x – 437

Explanations :

Make the “x” term stand alone by moving numbers.

142 + x < 312 ( subtract 142 from both sides)

142 + x – 142 < 312 – 142

X < 170

Any number smaller than 170 is a solution of this inequality.

Make the “x” term stand alone by moving numbers.

-43 + x < -61 ( Add 43 to both sides)

-43 + x + 43 < -61 + 43

x < -18

Any number smaller than -18 is a solution of this inequality.

Make the “x” term stand alone by moving numbers.

-37 < x – 437 ( Add 437 to both sides)

-37 + 437 < x – 437 + 437

400 < x

Any number greater than 400 is a solution of this inequality.
